Melvin White has a serious minimal approach in using the tr808 to express himself. This record is so obscure sounding, every track has a stripped to the bone structure with 4 or less elements. The percussion is sharp edged, raw and the deep bassdrum has a serious character. The overall mastering on this record is what attracts me the most, there is an electrical malfunction noise in the background that gives me the impression that one of the compressors is actually broken or being pushed to extremely loudness.My favorite track has to be Wrak/Plet. It has a fascinating groove that visualizes obscurity in the perfect way.
