"So damn tough" is great, introduced a heavier sound by Dillinja. Earlier tracks often had intricate amen workouts (think of the "Angles Fell" EP). The Test tunes are simpler but heavier, way more compressed, too. "Vicious" was a bit reminiscent of those earlier D tunes, while "So damn tough" pointed to the future.

(Reviewing: Vicious) - The distressed female vocal, foreboding chords and menacing brass stabs do little to disguise the impending battery. White hot molten beats lethargically spill from this insipid cauldron of malevolence before being steam-rolled into oblivion by a truly tempestuous bass line. Although far removed from the Classical genre, the track lends itself well to Claude Debussy's quote 'the music is not in the notes, but in the silence between them'.Those who like this should certainly listen to 'Promise' from the Metalheadz Platinum Breakz 2 compilation. It is a shame Dillinja did not explore this Jazz infused avenue some more, as 'Vicious' and 'Promise' are two of his finest moments.

I completely agree. I enjoy most all of Dillinja’s tunes I’ve heard but Promise has always stood out above everything else. Tonight is actually my first time hearing Vicious as I just found it for a buck at a local store. It sounds like a slightly harder take on Promise with the same drums, horns and all but I still prefer the Sade vocal samples and overall flow on Promise. Pretty damn cool to find a companion piece though! Def a shame he didn’t make many (if any) more jazzy flavored tunes like these cus I would’ve loved to hear ‘em!
