Previously co-leader, with Louis Sclavis, of the acclaimed Acoustic Quartet , French virtuoso violinist Pifarély now concentrates his energies in this new duo with pianist Couturier (last heard on Anouar Brahem's Khomsa). Recorded in Frankfurt's Festburgkirche, Poros blurs dinstinctions between jazz improvisation and contemporary chamber music, and its range of references runs from Stephane Grappelli and Mal Waldron to Messiaen, Bartók and Enescu.
