Adonis - We're Rocking Down The House flac mp3 download

Man, I would trade one of my kidneys for a mere one hour travel back in time to the Music Box in Chi-town and experience this in 1986. I was 13 back then, 5000 miles away listening to friggin Euro pop trash. Ugh.

No one's forcing anyone to like anything here. Not your cup of tea, no biggie. But as others have said, it cemented its place in history because of its novelty at the time. I'm sure people were losing their shit at the Box to this, and who knows what kind of effects or edits local DJs like Ron Hardy threw on it. But its staying power is the combo of that dark acid line, and those relentless hand claps and bassdrum thuds...and of course the vocals, drone-y almost whiney vocals that could possibly annoy you, but somehow, as with all these early experimental tracks, it all works.

I just came across this. I cannot believe Too Far Gone/No Way Back gets so much attention that I've never even heard of this! What a bloody heater.

Thanx for the reissue but unhgggg...Gets pressed in UK /Europe (sans bits of tires and sneakers ; ) and yet the vinyl is noisy. Trax 'curse' I guess.

Anyone else have nasty surface noise on thier copy? I guess when it comes to Trax Records some things will never change...

It's a classic track but the remixes haven't aged well; they sound much more dated than the 1986 original.

Sampled by a large amount of dance music productions these last two decades (such as 'MI 7 - Rockin' Down The House' from 1991, and Marcus Intalex on "Temperance", 2004),"We're Rocking Down The House" is another symbol of the early House music days. Adonis recorded "We're Rocking Down The House" at home. Marshall Jefferson was the reason why that one became popular, because he gave the tape to Ron Hardy, and not Adonis himself. Marshall came over his house before he was going to the Music Box (an underground house temple leaded by Ron Hardy, a very influential DJ). At that time, Marshall Jefferson and Adonis almost never went to the Music Box without anything new made by them for Ronnie to play, so Marshall asked me Adonis if he had anything new he was working on that could be given to Ronnie, and Adonis told Marshall he had just finished this track called "We're Rocking Down The House". Adonis gave this title because that is the effect he wanted the people to feel while dancing to it - something like a desire of giving the audience the feeling of the house moving, the whole club from side to side while they would dance - but also the dream of pushing the term House music to the masses. Adonis knew the DJ would love to play a record that say 'we are rocking down the house', like meaning they would be playing the best of House music.

And being a "home producer" myself, I can see a correlation here as to why it's not so awesome. If it were taken to a facility and polished up, it could have been a great track. I like the song for God's sake, I never said it was a terrible song. I just said it was not as great as the "techno history books" and public opinion would have you believe. I made dozens of self-produced tracks on cheap equipment, never released any of them, and it's probably just as well off. They were mostly only OK and definitely NOT finished the way they should have been. I feel this one should have been finished before being released. So, I apologize to all I offend with my spewing of the truth, but at least I had the class to not release any of my less-than-stellar tracks to the world knowing they were far from finished. Adonis is a nice person I'm sure, and I'm not ripping HIM, I'm being honestly critical of the track he produced that should have been finished before being released, but hey - that's the stuff legends are made of. Oops, I'm a success! Good going Adonis! But don't be offended when a few remarks come out exposing a track for what it is - only OK. Production-wise. It is a catchy tune and I'm 100% certain that's why Marshall Jefferson said to himself - "I want the world to hear this." - or at least Chicago. Even if it's not finished. I mean, it happened, and that was decades ago. Sorry! Don't forsake me for my honesty. I still have my copy of it!

I have always wanted to know where/who did the vocal sample (Adonis himself?) - dark and kind of sleezy, melancholy, but perfect in dry ice and a big dark warehouse warping the soundsystem. It makes my skin tingle every time I hear it! A perfect classic of it's time, hypnotic and deep with a minimal 303 bassline to keep you locked on the groove.

I'm sorry jazzalicious but your comment is ridiculous and it's unfortunate that it slipped through the Discogs moderator net. What did you expect from a track written in 1986 on the barest of equipment in a completely virgin scene? This is a Chicago acid/jack/house track not Jean Michel Jarre. 'We're Rocking Down The House' will remain a classic for eternity and a benchmark for many producers in the future. I don't know what happened to the proposed 'Lost In The Sound' LP - perhaps it's still in construction.

Cry me a river. Not the Illinois or Chicago River, but the Mississippi or Missouri River. Virgin scene or not, whatever your opinion - we all can have our opinions, and you can grow up enough to realize that. Even the Discogs Moderators realize that. And besides that, this is one of the few places (THANKFULLY, and being that it's NOT about a right-wing scene here) where we are free to express our true feelings free of right-wing influence. This surprisingly is not a super kick-ass song, but it is a kick-ass tool for DJs who want the original tune that was sampled so much by the first wave of techno producers. I had heard the samples but not the song, and I was just a little disappointed at the lack of elements in the song. It's pretty darn minimal, but still a great bassline and a definite need for collector/historians like me. This is an OK song, but for all you DJs out there, it's gotta be the ultimate house "tool". Later Detroit house put this one to shame, and Chicago house too, but we had to start somewhere, right? Not entirely bad, just not up to my exacting standards!

Mate you know nothing , dance classics are judged by dance floor reaction and not by self proclaimed critics like you ( by the way adonis is a house music legend) and erm , i,ve never heard of you , this track along with no way back were GROUND BREAKING in there day played by ron hardy and his peers when underground house music was begining to surface . championed by marshall jefferson on it,s release this record is indeed simple and quite minimal but that,s the magic of it , a simple bass loop hand claps and a jacking vocal sample . this is house music minimal production but massive on the ear drums . this record will never be "put too shame " because it,s too good for that , a chicago classic that will forever stand the test of time ..

I just love disagrees! But peeps must at some point in their lives face the fact that when the truth is obvious and right up in yo face, it must be addressed as such and not overlooked. This track is OK, it's good, but it's not fantastic and is relatively weak in the face of thousands of much stronger releases. Now please exit your opinion-poll-slanted feelings and see the truth for what it is. I know, we all want to further public opinion because it feels good, but come on, Adonis is not a God. He made people notice, but that does not automatically and unequivocally make him a God. Poison sold millions of records, does that make them somehow "awesome". I STILL think they sucked!

another classic release from adonis. one of the few consistent artists at the time, releasing fresh innovative music. his tracks always stood out. were rocking down the house is no exception. another acid house great!
