On this 4th release for his own label, Andy Roberts opts to go back with fellow Torontonian Gene King (aka Genetix) who had produced the imperial Spacedust EP (MSM-002) earlier this year. And as usual, Gene, who uses the Project 104 moniker, comes correct with yet another house music gem in the form of the luscious "Candy Store EP". Gentle Aura provides a soft yet sultry spoken-word monologue, creatively using the names of everybody's favourite candies with reference to everybody's favourite topic...! I don't need to mention what that is! Meanwhile, Gene King tastefully handles the rest by providing an infectious peaktime scorcher that perfectly matches the deep atmosphere set by the vocalist. The 12" comes with the moody "Genetix Main Mix", as well as the "Cinnamon Lip Beats", and "Part 2", which weighs heavy on its own, showcasing the track's rhythmic and percussive elements, not to mention a sick hammond solo.
