Reviews:
  • Usaxma
A1: 4/4 electronica. Beautiful "Boards.." synths float serenely through this track but are juxtaposed with aggressive bleepy techno grating synths bringing to mind Kompakt. It does work but they're not easy bed fellows. [NINE]A2: Techno/Electro. All the class of a Garnier slightly electro-y work out, but given the namecheck I've used, it's staggeringly short given it's potential. [NINE]A3: Electronica. Usual template of fine off tempo beats, and lush lead and bass synthwork. Too subtle and restrained for the most part until it briefly opens up in last quarter. Another missed oppertunity. [SEVEN]A4: Electronica. Huge potential in this one. Excellent beats and synthwork would push Plaid at their best but ran out of grooves? [NINE]B1: Ambient Hip/Hop. More hip/hop in tempo than usual deFocus releases with solid beats and scratching samples. "Boards.." lush chords wash through the tracks and "Plaid" lead and bass synths. The same but different. It works. [TEN]B2: Nice beats and soundscapes. Enjoyable while it lasts but at 1:48 not one to indulge in. [NINE]B3: Subtle dreamy electronica. Fine for relaxing at home (har, har) and the middle section keeps pace with all that's quality on the release but considering the track length the intro is time wasted and outro time thoroughly squandered. [SEVEN]B4: Effected Electronica. Like A4 has the tools to be the best on the release but cut short means it remains a curiosity. [NINE]
