A rather strange effort by noted Mexican jazz guitarist Francisco Mondragon Rio. With ‘The Lines’ he is trying his hand at fusing high-energy, guitar-centric jazz-rock with punkish New Wave moves. The result is an unstatisfying mix which, at its best, has a superficial resemblance to James Chance & The Contortions (albeit with much more restrained saxophone work). The vocals, featured on about half of the songs, are dreadful yet somehow totally appropriate to the sub-genre.
