Reviews:
  • Fek
Has BMI 1988 as well as HJA 8907. Not the thickest cut of vinyl
  • Whitecaster
as pointed out by leroy skibone on his youtube upload of the vocal version, the sped-up tape noise on this original pressing which permeates the right channel during the vocal version of the track (and which other users have commented on here) contains identifiable snippets from other contemporary house tunes, particularly:1. Hollywood (3) - Funk Me, Jack Me2. West Phillips - Tell Me (That You Want Me)3. Gil De La Paz - Casa, specifically the Latin House Mixthis was most likely an error introduced when originally mastering the record in 1987/88, since other pressings after that time, including the 2016 reissue, eliminate the noise, so it clearly wasn't part of the song as recorded

Great to see a reissue of this fantastic track.Simplistic sounding track, funky bass and great vocal hook "Come On Lets Work, Come On Lets Work It To The Bone" Big track in its day.Defiantly worth grabbing a copy to add to your collection !
  • Cemav
Excellent and probably better than the original as it has been remastered!... I'm very happy with my copy ;)
  • Beardana
What is the sound like on that release? (word word)
  • Hilarious Kangaroo
Love this track. The noise in the background is in other versions I've heard but does seem more pronounced on this record.
  • Mr_Mix
MegaTune!!!! One of the most important Jams that ever made. It will ever alive for a real Dj.
  • Ironfire
Still rocking the party to this day. Always a good idea to play this record
  • Karon
i have the version on House Jam and the vocal cut is messed up. it sounds like there's a second recording cut into the record at lower volume underneath. it sounds like a sped-up record is playing at the same time. i'm not insane.
  • Gann
Don#t buy this repress. There is noise over the music on the vocal version, it sounds terrible.
  • Use_Death
Agree!! Disappointed with this record. The background noise is terrible.
  • Jode
Should have read gallepi's comment earlier. Same happened in my copy. Avoid this RP.

Acid To The Bone is a sweet drum machine & TB 303 workout : )
  • Nikohn
Sure is mate! The bonus is that it sounds like a completely different track all together!
  • Lonesome Orange Kid
A total classic house jam. The percussion is perfect jackin' material. The lo-fi production is magnified by the fact that there seems to be obvious tape noise in the background!
  • Ydely
The original and the best. This had the same impact on the house scene in 1987 as Moby's "GO" did in 1990. Everyone was like "Hey, what the f*%k is that, who's done it and where can I get me a copy! So minimal, so tribal, sooo deep....whenever I hear that vocal line and those analogue drum patterns it always brings a smile to my face, I never tire of hearing it, no matter what mix it's used in(and there have been quite a few to date!). I was in Phonica today and there was a new mix banging out of the sound system(white label by?)and I bought it without a moments hesitation, just like that! it's still that good, it's a piece of house music history and will rock any party without exception.

Was probably 'Work' from this that you heard in Phonica - http://www.discogs.com/MCMLXXXVII-Work/release/2547031

Whenever people talk about House with Tribal influences, I will remember this early House tune from 1987, later sampled by the Italo-House act Cappella on "Helyom Halib" on the end eighties. The percussion here has clear tribal influences and a minimal environment; its importance lies on the fact that, when you remember that 'House Of Gypsies - Samba' was a classic of the genre from 1992, you'll have an idea of the impact caused by this tune back in 87 - "Come on let's work it to the bo-bo-bone!" infested the dancefloors Worldwide, and was later included on several important compilations of the genre, such as "House Nation vol 2", "Jack Trax - The Sixth Album", "Deep Heat 89", "Rhythm Zone Vol 1", "Best Of House Music Vol 2", among others - thanks to Larry Thompson & Rick Lenoir. Despite everything said above, "It's A Mystery To Me" had a more avant-garde essence and is the recommended tune for the connaisseurs on this 12 inch.

This is not as good as Capella's "Heylom Halib" which uses the same "Work" sample. People used to get these two tracks up. It is quite minimal compared to Heylom Halib. I do not have this 12", but if I find it, I'll definitely buy it. It's another early house classic.
  • Landaron
I don't think you can compare the two tracks at all.
  • Stonewing
davidsalsoul LNR is authentic jacking Chicago House that still sounds good today, whilst Heylom Halib was cheesy Euro house even at the time and listening to it now its just laughable. agreed!
