This would have been an even better Acid-techno compilation wasn't it for the recording and/or mastering quality of the mix CD. It's very poor. Also why would they suddenly fade down the last track by Skank which is not only a seriously good one but also very rare is beyond my comprehension. They also left out the last track from BITten for some reason; you can read the review of the original CD by my fellow maroko on there.

I disagree about the sound quality - while not exactly of a very high standard, it sounds fine to me - but I do have a good sound system (including my computer audio setup) which probably helps. The digital files have good dynamic range and aren't even close to being brickwalled, which makes a change for a 1990s CD! Like most people who own a lot of CDs, I've got a few which are very poorly mastered, and occasionally buy one which is unlistenable, but this isn't one of them. They could have made more effort removing some of the vinyl clicks, but that's a minor criticism and doesn't really detract from the listening experience. The unmixed tracks are great, but the missing track is easy to find on vinyl if one is desperate for it anyway. The big thing for me on this release is to actually have a mix by DJ Orange Peel, who was one of my favourite DJs at the time (late 1990s-early 2000s) and we both had our names on the same flyers on a few occasions, but he never seemed to put many mixtapes out for some reason... strange!Either way, it's late 1990s acid techno, so you can't go wrong with this one!

I have to say CD 1 is an incredible ......inspired old DJ mix of amazing UK oldskool acid techno tunes = got me to it .... in 97 and buying so I could get involved in those old classic DJ free love acid days = acid techno from the glory days of 97 I would not dust off again to mix - unless I think some of them who live with this old god status reputation and need challenging because now they play make slow boring brainless techno shitea few online acid DJ's keep it alive , with quality track selections ---- you know who you are make some fucking old skool acid techno
