A “decent” sounding remaster, and certainly comprehensive (it is convenient to have "Another Day", and it's flip-side both included together with the main album). The good news is that the new remastering is only a little compressed sounding when compared to the very open, raw, and colorful original 71' U.K. -1 release. The depth and clarity has been left intact, and absolutely shows off this little epic that Paul and Linda created, this “Acrchive” entry does not disappoint, with very warm and sturdy playback."Ram" further solidifies that Paul was the most clever and adventurous of all the Beatles, musically speaking, regardless of what critics may have said upon it’s release, or even his old bandmates for that matter-“Ram” is his (and Linda’s) mini masterpiece. It starts to become very clear at this point in Paul’s solo career, away from his former band, that he had lost none of his zest for making music, nor any of his brilliant knack for melody, while at the same time, proving to be quite prolific by continuing the old “Beatles” breakneck release schedule of releasing a 7” single (not to be found on the main album), preceded by a full-length album (mixed both in Mono and Stereo formats mind you). Via “Ram” and “Wild Life”, I can hear Paul’s and Linda's influence on the "Talking Heads" and "Tom Tom Club", years before those bands arrived on the scene (of course the “Talking Heads” would in turn influence McCartney’s own “McCartney II” nearly a decade later), just listen to “Monkberry Moon Delight” and compare Linda’s backing vocals to the backing vocals of the “Sweet Breathes” from “Tom Tom...”, or Paul’s zany and erratic lead vocals to David Byrne’s from the “...Heads”. Even the “...Heads” own “Speaking In Tongues” album bares a certain resemblance to that of the cover of “Ram”...”Ram” is quintessential Paul McCartney.

Decent sounding remaster. Pressing could be better. Doesn't beat the DCC still.
