Video about Coil - The Angelic Conversation

Mostly fluff, but some solid tracks here and there. Judy's voice was great, but doesn't do much for me out of the film context. The reissue is a bit of a mess with tracks running together unevenly and Montecute (a version of "At the Heart of it All) missing.Keepers on the original: Enochian Calling, Angelic Stations (a version of "How to Destroy Angels"), Montecute.Keepers on the reissue: Madriiax.

Despite the chilling beauty of the very music part in this, personally, I am annoyed with the fact there are no sonnet readings on this edition. Imagine a Jarman film without it. Utter shame and a criminal decision (whatever the reason)!

Amazing hypnotic combination of beautiful sounds with spoken word by the actress Judi Dench. The stunning voice of Judi Dench and the sounds create Magical atmosphere . There is mesmerizing beauty and sadness in the music , the music contains bells, gongs, beautiful synth lines.sea waves sounds , sometimes some very dramatic percussions sounds, Sound effects.

Heads up! Want a copy of this without paying scalpers' prices? Right now there are a few copies of this and the other Threshold Archives releases on Amazon (UK/DE) for 8.18 pounds/9.26 euro. You'd beter be fast! You're welcome!

Sound seems to be distorted in couple places. Album itself is amazing though - deep, mystical, cryptic. A journey through caves of subconcious.

On the whole, this album sounds better than the Threshold House edition of it - thankfully without the tedious spoken parts. And yeah, I suppose the mastering job is botched to some degree. It depends on the source, if the original DAT is distorted due to high levels it can be readily corrected using signal correction software/hadware found in most professional studios, Cedar Systems etc. I also heard some typical digital glitch errors in a couple of places which I cannot place on the initial release. Suggests to me that this is presented (on purpose) warts and all as it was on the DAT supplied by Sleazy. That said, if you compare the indexing of this reissue with the original, everything is different. I wonder if the DAT source was indexed like this or if it was done afterwards.[edit]: Hey Gyron of the Far North :D

I agree, it does indeed sound distorted in parts... These "re-issues" (or what to call them) seem to be a trifle sloppily executed, imho.

A truly masterpiece for the mankind,A huge Meditation Trip to drug your soul.

I own both the CLEAR and WHITE "MADE BY PDO" GOLD CD's listed on DISCOGS. I also own a THIRD CD VERSION from 'World Serpent Distribution'. I cannot remember THE EXACT DATE OF PURCHASE... (199?)...A VERY LONG TIME AGO!! I believe that some vital COIL CD discography information is MISSING from your archives. So let us find-out. I would love to find-out more about this version from your COIL commune. OK, here are the basics... This CD is (LOCI CD6). THIS CD is BLACK INK on a CLEAR BACKGROUND on a SILVER CD which is TRANSPARENT when held up to a light source. On THE CD MATRIX instead of PDO The CD says (all in CAPS) "MADE IN THE UK BY UNIVERSAL M&L". There are several extra matrix ring numbers NOT shown on Discogs! IT READS: LOCICD06 10280241 02 ~ALL BOOKLET DESIGN and ARTWORK seem IDENTICAL to THE PDO CDs. The BARCODE is 5 021958 424026 ... There is the ORIGINAL "WORLD SERPENT DISTRIBUTION" Mailing-list CARD included. Does anyone else have this CD and/or SEE IT LISTED. THE CD IS HIGHER-QUALITY THAN THE GOLD DISCS.

This is a masterpiece CD but buyers should beware of the eventual, notorious disc-rot appearing on CDs from this edition (especially the first one which features a black print with a clear background on gold). Sometime in the early nineties PDO pressed a whole series of CDs which suffered due to wrong CD varnish layer or something. Among these, Coil's 'The Angelic Conversation' also suffered this fatal destiny. The side effects of disc-rot manifest during play - the outside edges of the CD usually have a slight peel-off which slowly progresses towards the centre of the disc and affects/destroys data stored on the disc so the sound reproduction becomes lost and cannot be restored. As for the contents of the disc, it is ungrateful to describe this album - the title says it all, it is truly angelic in conversation - a deeply haunting soundscape accompanied by the magnificent Damme Judi Dench. In terms of 'heaven' and 'hell', here Coil present both worlds with such beauty and tension that make you feel pleasantly possessed.

It should be noted that not every PDO disc suffers from disc rot, even titles that were problematic. If the disc was going to fail, it would have failed a long time ago. If it hasn't failed yet, it's most likely safe. I had several affected discs in my collection, (titles by Nurse With Would, C93 and others), which developed rot by the mid to late '90s. PDO replaced those titles for me. Many other 'affected' titles in my collection never developed rot, including my first pressing, gold disc version of The Angelic Conversation. Just because a title is from the affected pressing does not mean Disc Rot is 'eventual'.
