Have the 2014 luv n’haight/ubiquity reissue, looking for some information regarding it’s worth...
  • WtePSeLNaGAyko
Hello. if you want this record please give me a message. I will inform the details.
  • Fenrinos
Sealed copy in my collection for trades if interested - send me a message

Having had the official repress that followed this unofficial pressing, I felt let down by the sound quality of the legit repress. To my ears this sounds way better for whatever reason. Anyway, no longer into Soul, so if anyone wants to write me about my copy, it's looking for a new home ;-)

I own the original release, and it came sealed. I've played a handful of times. This is a unique recording whose vocals portray a piercing insight into the soul... the musicianship is imperfectly solid! It's dark and mostly inspiring tonal changes gives light to the pain and struggle of the message Gloria exhudes with her gift of song and storytelling. We use the term "Holy Grail" very loosely. This effort truly exceeds the religious test! The experience all serious collectors seek when searching to find the one! This truly is a collector's masterpiece...

Thanks for putting into words what I experienced and felt when putting this one on the first time. So good!

I think it's really funny that this release, of all the hundreds (probably thousands) of bootlegs for sale in this marketplace, is the one that is blocked from being bought and sold. What about the other releases on this label? Oh right, none of those compete with the homies down at Luv N' Haight...
  • INvait
There is a new and official LP "Love is a Hurtin' Thing" that came out in November on Luv N Haight, collecting her 70s singles, including contents of the un-sellable album listed here with her ex-husband's name. There may be a lawsuit or cease and desist factoring in here.
  • Olwado
what is the reason this cant be sold??
  • Stoneshaper
Maybe because of the many low quality bootlegs that have been made...
  • Nikohn
It's not the only record that can't be sold on Discogs. For this release it's not possible either: http://www.discogs.com/Village-Choir-The-Dancing-To-The-Street-Dance-Band/release/1459327I don't know why as Discogs doesn't make a comment on that. Strangely enough in this case it's a regular/legitimate release.

Bizarre. I don't want it, will get the official reissue but first time I've seen "This release has been blocked from sale in the marketplace. It is not permitted to sell this item on Discogs.".

just announced via RA :Ubiquity Records sublabel Luv N' Haight will release a Gloria Ann Taylor collection called Love Is A Hurtin' Thing on November 27th.
  • MisTereO
I think ive got a "sketchy bootleg."

I have the 2014 re-pressing - nowt wrong with it. It's the emotion on on LIAHT - she is singing about what is happening about to happen 2 her. The lyrics are a premonition. U cant fake this and this shines thru. Who wants chocolates, roses and cheap fizz 4 Valentine's Day when u can have this?
  • Hugighma
The business.
  • Tygralbine
1) no one will find the original for this for less than $500. you made of money?2) it was recorded in 1973. please find me an original of this that sounds like it was mastered at Dubplates & Mastering in 20143) anyone seen the original recording tapes for this to do a legitimate re-issue because i haven't4) yes the cover artwork looks crap, i don't buy records for how good they look5) i've played this out plenty and it fires off so stop moaning.

Bingo! Good things come to those that wait...http://www.discogs.com/Gloria-Ann-Taylor-Love-Is-A-Hurtin-Thing/release/7771988

A couple of months ago I bought a completely unrelated record on Discogs and the seller shipped it using empty sleeves of this reissue as stiffeners. And that's how I know this reissue is crap.

I am fascinated by the deep dollars that people will pay for an original; and with the opportunity to purchase brand new re-issues or bootleg copies at far cheaper prices. Apparently the re-issue is of poor quality, (although I notice there are currently none for sale at Discogs, and will now be difficult to find as well) I'm going to soon find out as I purchased a copy on Ebay for $30.00. I will never be in the position to pay $800-$1000 for an original, that will assuredly have quite a lot of play with background noise. If I can have a reasonable and "new" copy for $30.00 I will be content--so suffice to say the "unofficial" copy will work for me, as I don't have unlimited funds. Please help me to understand this disconnect in the marketplace.

Have a look into the record buying/collecting culture of northern soul. People have always valued original pressings.
  • Anarawield
purchased two copies seems fine to me ??
  • AfinaS
Lovely stuff.
  • Zicelik
Great tune, horrible mastering :-(
  • Natety

  • Gavinranadar

Hey Folks, today i went to the Shop to check the Gloria Ann Taylor - Deep Inside You. Well, this 2014 cut is so low and the price so high. Somebody knows shit about mastering and even how to make profit, in that small amout of copys you will propably pay your Fixcosts. Even more worst that the original Artist is just ignored. I am a DJ and I love Disco. Italo from the 80ties has a lot of great producers and the scene was very alive. The Original Pressings are also mostly tight and hard to get. Actually there are a lots of "repress" in 2014. LOTS!!! So I checked aswell the Kroma - Sexy Films, it´s a very catchy Song finally after 32 Years a Repress? No a Bootleg. Because i don´t feel this on AFRON. I checked aswell Mr.Master and Lectric Workers. Same low Level. Like this bootleg from Gloria Ann Taylor. All this cheap ass Labels that dig out the original gold should take a bit more love and respect because vinyl is oil. It´s a waste of material and energy. As a Vinyl only DJ and music lover I will not play or enjoy this because Vinyl means Quality, where you do the best cut whats possible. The 70ties and 80ties was not more future. We have all technology NOW, but we are "schnell, schnell." Take your time. "Love is a hurting thing" sounds not bad. but the classic "Deep Inside You" is Kaputt. If you looking for quality check the Label Numero Group. They know how to polish old gold and do great selection. If you are a Discogs Speculator, get this version here, hold it and: GOOD LUCK. & UBIQUITY: come one. it takes AGES. make it happen. i want this record but with quality.

The sound quality for a record from 1973 (!) is not bad at all. Sounds pretty good to me.I heard new records that sounds much more worse than this one...
