Mel Brook's comic genius is best captured in the original "The Producers", and this soundtrack gives an ample dose of the hilarious dialog, along with the classic music from the film.It doesn't get much funnier than Mel's "Springtime for Hitler". Although Dick Shawn as "Lorenzo St. DuBois" ("but my friends call me L.S.D.") reaches his comic peak as the druggie turned Broadway sensation. His rendition of "Love Power" is one of the many highlights of this nearly perfect film comedy."The Producers" has been redone on stage and on film, but I refuse to watch the remakes. It simply doesn't get better than Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder as Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom. "The Producers" is right up there with the classic film comedies like "Duck Soup" and "Animal House". And this album really finds all of the great comic bits from the 1968 movie. A must for any Mel Brooks' fan.
