When I looked into this, I found that both "Grunion Run" and "North Beach" were published by Drive-In Music Co., Inc. - an Art Laboe company. "Grunion Run" is indeed FZ's song, and "North Beach" was written by Paul Buff. The connection is obvious. "North Beach" was first released on The Hollywood Persuaders' LP "Drums A-Go-Go" on November 1, 1965 (the song was copyrighted December 28, 1965). There were no other songs called "North Beach" prior to that November 1965 LP, and Musil could not have done the song before then. I have confirmed that Drive-In Music was not consulted or paid for these cover versions.

Just listen and you will notice that there isn't even the slightest ressemblance between the Musil and the Zappa/Buff tracks.
