2000? This is a classic album and CERT18 at is finest. The music? A classic. Groundbreaking stuff. When I first heard it? I could not f**king believe it?Are you looking for the future? It is right here. Look it up: Klute, Polar and the ultimate master Photek. Plz don't forget Source Direct and J.Majik, Metalheadz, Hardleaders and all the others...Golden age.

The mix of "Redwind" on this promo version is different to the CD version. The snare pattern is more straight, driving and really pushing the tune forward. The CD version is more photek-ish, broken and complicated, not doing a favour to the tune imo. Can't say if this is the same mix as on the other vinyl versions.

Personal fav is Lifepod. Agressive and at the same time calm. Perfect space mood.

AFAIK same applies to "Future War". "Gravity Distortion" samples a Bob Lazar interview about Area 51. As we all know, Teebee really appreciates science fiction and future stuff. And yes, this long play is fucking outstanding. My highlights would be Future War, Claw and Bioform (reminds me of Droids from 98 on Audio Couture - also wicked), but there is simply no need for highlights. The whole album is decent, exceptionally deep, and dark, delivering one of the most aggressive drum patterns I have ever heard. One could class Blacksciencelabs as neurofunk or techstep, although it is way more atmospheric than the average output of these subgenres.Teebee is still a great producer who is back in business now (along with Calyx), he has made like five albums, put Subtitles on the centre of the neurofunk map (with close to 100 releases!), but this is definitely his zenith. Buy it, if you can.

All vocal samples on "the gateway" are from the 1997 movie Event Horizon. This movie is a sci-fi / horror movie and the teebee track captures its dark, futuristic atmosphere perfectly.

The debut album by Teebee and a masterpiece in sci fi drum & bass. The mood throughout this album is pure darkness. From the huge 'gateway' through to the mysterious 'gravity distortion', this album will have you hooked from the start with its razor sharp beats and brooding soundscapes. The production is faultless and the mixdown is amazing. Buy this on site!

This album is without a doubt one of the best dnb-lp's EVER! The dark and futuristic atmosphere which is shown by mad synths, dark pads, clean breaks and sci-fi movie-quotes gives you the feeling that the world is already a battlefield between humans & robots. The production is absolutely outstanding, can't think of many people who kept their style that individual...just listen to gravity distortion, sick breaks with hard edits interfusing with guitar-like samples!whoa!

blacksciencelabs in two words: absolute masterpiece. its that sadly rare thing in drumnbass: a true album with a coherent vision and vibe throughout, that demands to be listened to in its entirety, and never tires with repeat listening. from the opening seconds of "spaceage" teebee establishes an atmosphere that is exactly that - space age. clinical, clean, starkly futuristic, technoid, twisted, spacious, claustrophobic... in teebee's hands, the common science-fiction obsession of dnb is no cheesy affectation. The album carries a deep, dark vibe with genuine emotional power, truly immersing you in his dystopian future. And it is thanks to teebee's skill. a brilliantly subtle album, the musicality and memorability of the sparsely arranged tracks grows on you over time. but the production stands out from the first listen and never ceases to amaze. I'd argue that teebee is one of the finest engineers/technicians in drumnbass and this album is stunning proof. As a producer, the clinical precision of the drum sounds, the tight beat programming, sculpted bass events, and perfect mixdowns just make me weep! Some argue this record is photek warmed up. I have huge respect for photek, and can easily recognise teebee's undoubted debt of influence to photek. But I think this is a ridiculous claim- teebee takes elements of photek's style, but takes them further, executes it clinically, drenches it with his own powerful sense of mood, and comes out with a classic which I think he deserves full credit for.
