Definitely more think-tank than funk! This is a very blurred and incoherent mix of neo classical and experimental jazz. I came to it via exploring the back-catalogue of releases featuring drummer Edward Vesala, and there was a Vesala album on ECM / Japo called "Nan Madol" that stepped on from this in a more free-jazz way, so I was not so surprised by this but surprised by the title!

In my opinion this record bears more resemblance to contemporary classical music than any jazz style. But it's hard to classify - and I think it was the composer's intention too. At least this couldn't be more further away from jazz-funk. I don't say it's a bad record. But I'm sure many will be disappointed (considering the title: definitely think, no doubt, but not so much of tank nor funk)
