A well above average Dark Synth-Pop/New Wave album. I was very happily surprised reading the back of the sleeve at how good the lyrics were to these songs... I say this primarily because most songs in English from this label (which is Italian and therefore most of the artists' first language is such) tend to be much less well lyrically constructed. The lyrics are also very dark and moody (excluding the first and fifth tracks which are more "lovey-dovey") and that's a plus for me. Most albums I find have a small number of great tracks littered within a majority of either average or bland ones; However, this is exactly the opposite here. The only track I find bland at all is Baby Don't Cry (lyrically and musically), but that doesn't mean it's a bad song, just not quite as strong as some of the others. If I were to pick favourites, musically they would be Sounds From A Silent Place, When The Eyes Get Bright, and Time To Say Goodbye in that order... and lyrically they would be Beyond The Wall, When The Eyes Get Bright, and Sounds From A Silent Place in that order. The title track really stands out here with driving synths, a great melody, and some great guitar playing from Stefano Fazio. Minelli also has an effectively earie and moody voice. The only criticism I would have at all is that although Minelli has such a voice as I described, he seems to have a bit of a problem with articulating some of the words he says (I don't mean this in a way relating to his accent, but to the frequent slurring of his speech). This isn't really major enough to put me off of this record though. It all holds up very well even with the minor setbacks.
