In my opinion, Slides is a stone cold classic, expressing all the might, magic and frenzy techno music can have. Laing it all out through a combination of industrial sound barrages, raving mad percussion and multiple passages replacing each other throughout. Witness it transform into an utterly irksome, anfractuous and teeth clenching until they fall apart off-beat banger with dissonant and discordant sequences bellowing like madmen screaming for help behind barred windows of a mental institution. An absolute tongue in cheek, can-do piece of techno music deserving about a dozen times more attention than it regularly gets.A slight off kilter touch is maintained on Blac, even though it’s more along the lines of a conventional techno track. A haunting, indecipherable vocal snippet is used throughout with a ringing sound, providing the track with a darker feeling, despite not pounding as hard as the flip side.Wetfoot keeps up the level of challenge, with that sticky, ear splitting surface layer cutting right through the hard bass line. Not as fully developed and rich in detail as the previous two tracks, it’s still a fine slab of tougher techno.I have to admit this isn’t an easy one to get acquainted with, since it’s a one time collaboration under this name (they did release a 12" on Punish as Sonic Perverts), and the only other place where the name Dilated Audio appears is the "Vessels" double pack on Planet Rhythm Records. These three tracks are exclusive to the vinyl."Slide" is not as, well… pornographic and berserk as Punish, not as incredibly pulsating and hard as the releases on Heroes, and far from the loopy club orientated tribalism found on Submissions or occasionally on Compund.This is a very serious yet usable and effective techno offering, dense in structure, and with enough unexpected and unannounced twists and turns to make it stand out above the competition.While I am not sure about the input of the other two guys on this release, as far as mr. Wilson goes, this is one of his more atypical and interesting releases. If you’re a fan, you owe it to yourself. Hell, even the locked grooves are break beats!

When my flatmate Tim gave me his latest release i was stunned. This monster tune was not only dirty, with basslines that rattled your teeth but had an intelligence that was instantly playable up and down the country, which is exactly what i did with it!
