Is this the return of Paper Recordings at long last? I hope so, because they were one of the bright lights in British house in the late 90s. A NICE HOT EDIT WITH... is essentially a remix album of Crazy Penis' A NICE HOT BATH WITH... and it stands up mostly on the reminder of what a great album that was. Indeed, Greg Wilson's mix of "Starwar" is barely different at all from the original. Luckily their own reversion of "Do It Good" tosses in an extra dose of funk. Yam Who? give "Omega Man" a smooth coating, as sleek as polished metal. The already funky "Smoovin' Groovin'" gets a further smoovin' by Ray Mang, who adds some electro chunkiness, and "Mambo" delves further into the disco era, courtesy of Rune Lindbæk. Faze Action injects "Drop Your Weapon" with some mild Afro-pop flavor, a sort of groovy harissa. Welcome back, Paper! It's as if you never left.
