The seminal "The Circus" classic was in fact Todd Terry's hommage to the old school Disco classic 'Martin Disco Circus - Disco Circus', from 1978. There, the House pioneer brought the brilliant sample from that tune and made with it the essence of "The Circus", used on several House Mega Mixes and House repertories later. The tune, as well as its predecessor from the Disco era, became an instant hit on the Underground, bringing a crazy & astonishing combination of percussion & effects.
