Joe Cato - I'm So Glad.........1967 release. I have owned this record for a long time, over 40 years, and listened to it maybe twice. I copied the link from YouTube, for both sides of the record, so that you could listen, but side B has been deleted, due to violation of copyright. Get busy and listen to the A Side, before the same fate befalls that. Joe Cato , I know nothing about him. Nevertheless, I just love this performance. A mid tempo, bouncy tune, with Joe singing his heart out over the sparse backing track. The guitar figure, starts the tune as Chuck Berry would say "just like ringin' a bell"[Johnny B. Goode]. I think that Joe himself plays guitar, and he is no Clapton, but plays the instrument endearingly. He cannot sing to save his life, but attacks the song in a totally honest way. His voice cracks throughout, and he throws in a whooohooo here and there, just out of sheer exhuberance. Maybe they were holding a gun to his head at the session, and this is what they came up with. I think the poor guy was out of his depth at Chess Studios in Chicago, Ill., where this was most likely recorded, and you can tell by the strangulated sound of his voice. The performance sounds just like a demo, as if they had 10 minutes spare studio time. The arrangement is by Charles Stepney, of Earth, Wind and Fire fame, but it is hardly an arrangement that I could put my name to, let alone someone of Stepney's stature, what with the sparse instrumentation of Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, and Piano, and no vocal backup. Well, I wonder where Joe is now, but I for one am glad I got to listen to this performance properly, and enjoyed what he did 43 years ago. Oooh, I'm So Glad That You're Coming Back Home To Me So Goodbye Tears And Farewell To Misery No More Pain 'Cause Your Love Has Set Me Free And I'm So Glad That We Saved our Love In Time I Feel So Good Just To Know You're Gonna Be Mine And Finally All The Heartaches Are Left Behind No More Worries No More Heartaches, Baby No More T-e-a-r-s Whooo-Hoooo You Went Away But You Stayed Here In My Heart I'm So Glad That We've Made A Brand New Start And Once I've Spoken Never Again Will We Part No More Worries, Oohh! No More Heartaches No More Tears, Baby No More Tears Shall We Shed No More Whooo-Hoooo-Hoo-Hoo No More Heartaches, Baby No More Tears.
