This sounded like nothing else at the time it came out. There was a swell of electronica coming from the likes of Autechre and other Warp artists. But add into the mix the evocative female vocals and things are taken to another level. I do feel this is one of those under the radar albums where the world will evetually catch up and recognise its brilliance. It needs to be given a chance to grow on you. It's dark and brooding but makes perfect sense if you're going through trouble and strife. This is medicine for the broken hearted. I'll always love it. Respect to Mr B Hannant and R Brown who's techno output is also right up my 'Tippy Tappy' street.

This is an amazing LP - From the opening track, all etherial vocals and chugging bass-lines, to the rap tracks, right through to my fave track, afterhours.... I love this album, I really do and I wish they had made more. I really miss Beaumont Hannant. The sounds are deeply DEEPLY layered and textured, as with most of Beau's material, it's intricate and instantly accessible, yet offers so much more on repetitive listens.

I can understand why this one didn't sell too well. The styles of music change much like William Orbit's Strange Cargo III. There are raps, there are dreamy female vox, but there is only one standout. Rollercoaster manages to coast along on a breakbeat and a rolling sub bass tone rather splendidly. Gone is the tech trance that Beaumont Hannnant followers look for. Outcast is also unheard of in the states where we have Outkast, the hip-hop duo. I also think the music is too dark, where a little bit of uplifting house sounds or happy reggae style dub could have helped. I wouldn't buy it again if I had the choice, because of the import premium slapped on to this album.
