  • Little Devil
An inspired, beautiful, and special record. It's rare to come across music this personal and sincere, no matter what decade you're examining. The album indeed starts off with fiery conviction, (the steady pluck of "Walking" segueing seamlessly into the bravado of "Red and Purple") and effectively disarms the listener with too-real intimacy and vulnerability. As the minutes tick by, you lay witness to a remarkable variation in composition and subject matter, without a single dud. Though the music is off-the-cuff and inherently 'imperfect' by design — there are really no flaws within the whole hour-runtime. Perfection was not what they were going for. There is nothing showy or over-produced about it, which is ultimately one of its greatest qualities. The climaxes on songs like "Joe's Waltz" provide splendid rancor to an otherwise soft, introspective listen.
