Dear Twistedvinylpusher,That doesn't actually answer the question. He hasn't actually taken or put a new spin on anything. The Heritage Orchestra has done that. I'm not resurrecting the old debate about the merits of DJ versus "real" musicians, nor am I denying Tong's role in the success of house music, club culture etc. But let's be clear, by being "executive producer" (a bullshit title if ever there was one) it's a bit much having the top billing over the actual musicians. He's a brand name that will give the project a commercial boost, just like Cream and Ministry Of Sound used to do on the endless mixes and compilations.Whether he learned his craft on vinyl or not is irrelevant, I would put money on him not having one piece of vinyl in his possession when he "performs" with this thing in a live environment. In fact his contribution is probably about as genuine as a Peter Hook DJ set. Thanks, The Cartel. You get me.

Lovewood - your comment just makes you look naive.............. So many of these tracks have been badly re-mixed in the past by "DJ's" pushing the "Auto-sync" button too much, so it's a pleasure to hear Pete take the classic house tracks of the late 90's - early 00's and puts a new spin on their sound. You can always tell the DJ's who learnt on Vinyl.

DUDE!!! It's a bunch of pop music rearranged for strings. Yea there are a couple of exceptions but this is mostly stuff you'd hear at the meat market inbetween the spice girls. Lets not kid ourselves. What Pete Tong did to establish his brand was a very very long time ago. The new twist that has been added is you can play them in a dentist waiting room...., Why does learning on Vinyl matter? I can tell you the only thing I ever gave a shit about with a DJ was selection everything else is secoundary to that.

Oh dear. . . . . . . . . .

Exactly what contribution does Pete Tong make to this record to deserve credit as the artist ?
  • Dalallador
Pete Tong has been around for far many more years than todays crappy EDM purveyors of cacophony.. Tong has been handpicking great electronic music since the early 90's way before any millenials jumped on the EDM bandwagon ruining the scene.

He is the Exec Producer. . . . . .
  • Dorintrius
Absolutely zero - like all the projects he's involved with. Massive fraud.
