One of the big trance tracks of all time & its all about the breakdown, sends a shiver down my spine, absolute monster of a track, they simply don't come any bigger and these are the mixes to have.

Just one of those tracks everyone knows from the film platoon and the breakdown is simply amazing in a packed nightclub. Shame Tiesto massacred it and now everyone associates this track with his shitty version, he just basically played with the breakdown and then slammed a booming beat over the top....and thats a remix is it, FFS there should be a law made against this! Corsten made the original into a trance masterpiece no question, slotting in nicely with system f - out of the blue and binary finary 1999, if you were a trance dj in 1999 and you didn't own let alone play this your very presence near the decks was frowned upon ;)

Regarding the comment on Tiesto's version...."here here!"His remix isn't even fit to lace Corstens boots.

By far the best remix of this amazing classic is the Corsten Remix,ferry knows how to blend classical sound with pure trance,the result is a magnificient piece of art

A superb CD. Not only does it feature Mr. Orbit's superb (and sensitive) version of Adagio, as well the Barber's original, it also contains 'In A Landscape' which is in my opinion a seriously under-rated and sublime piece of music.

The ATB mix is useless, but the Ferry Corsten is a very beautifull piece of trance music...

The Barbers Adagio theme comes from the film Platoon from years ago. Beautiful orchestra sound in the remixes made by ATB and Ferry Corsten.Still today a record with feeling. This is what's trance about with those beautiful sounds of violins and the orchestra on the background. Don't cry when reading this statement.

Well, Adagio was written in 1936... A few years before Platoon. ;) But agreed, the Ferry Corsten Remix was a defining moment in trance music. Soundtrack to my childhood.

I would be happier if the ATB remixes were removed and replaced with the full original ambient mix of Adagio For Strings. In my opinion, the ATB mix is horrible and totally wrecks the masterpiece that is Barber's Adagio For Strings. But this cd contains the Ferry Corsten mix, the trance classic which everyone should hear at least once! Otherwise, they're missing out. This mix is enough reason to give this a 4. This remix is also probably Ferry's best work to date along with his way underrated remix of Arms Of Loren by Evoke.

Now why anyone would deem it necessary to go wreck a wretchedly beautiful song such as Adagio for Strings, which alone is a spine tingler and should be left that way, but. God with some chunka chunka trance is beyond me it's so white it hurts. It's like sucking the inside of a can of Tab for the trace elements of dried soda that are left behind.

Personally, I am a big fan of classical music and trance music, so this marriage sounds absolutely perfect to me. Ferry Corsten has taken an already gorgeous song and made it into an uplifting trancer that no one else but he could have done. I still highly recommend this song nearly 4 years after the remix was done, that is just how good it is.
