This record is an absolutely wonderful showcase of top drawer creative hard bop. Monterose puts in one of his best performances on tenor and Thomas absolutely smokes on guitar. The whole record is fabulous, including interesting takes on a handful of standards as well as a pair of nice Monterose originals. This pressing is great too - dynamic sound nice heavy vinyl and a very nice sleeve. This one is hard to track down but well worth the effort. Thomas is something of an underrated guitarist (ditto Monterose as a tenor man). One listen to this record should be enough to convince you of this. Highest possible recommendation.

Could not agree more. Amazingly good LP. Can't believe I didn't know about it until recently.
