If I shown this new album of Natural Self to a Peter Gabriel or The Cure fan of my age, they would be very happy with it. Don’t get me wrong, no need to be frightened, but what the olders have planted is just grown to the next level for the youth of today with these 13 songs. I don’t mean to say, of course, those two artists above are over the age, out of fashion or something like that, but those colourful soundscapes of rich fantasy and diverse use of instrumentalism that Natural Self presents here, are really worthy heritage of the ancestry’s work. This is a real multi-listening disc with only one dance-floor track. That one’s called Alright Turn It Up Now and is such a style-cocktail that could stand all alone on its own on the behalf of he whole album. However, after a second thought I would essentially not mark any songs. I think the whole album itself is the essence: afro-beat drums, funk-break alike horns, rock guitars, scratching, sad new-wave melodies, smoky hip-hop influences… So, it’s avant-garde pop! So, pop for it while you can - you’ll have remarkable memories!
