This album took a few listens to really get into; his latest few before this have all been relatively similar in sound and style (still presenting very different themes however) but this one takes his thematic tendencies to a very new level. While his electronic music tends to be very organic, this album features a lot of instrumentation that at first seems a little tacky and out-dated, but that to me is the point he tries to make. Another difficult part to grasp is how in many of his albums the songs revolve around this central story or theme; in this album, however, the songs ARE the theme, making some tracks difficult to listen to stand-alone. That isn't a terrible thing though, it only adds more to the entire production, I think. In fact, this album flows very well, has some amazing melodies, unique sound and instrumentation, and above all, the unbeatable music intelligence of Hirasawa. Not to be missed!
