BONITA MANANA sees Espiritu finally beginning to establish her own voice, mixing her Latin influences with a hip-hop sensibility better than in her earlier singles. Luvdup houses up the track but oddly makes it sound a tad queso-y. Johnny Vicious goes for progressive house on his mixes, retaining the Latin piano chords, though the results are ultimately forgettable. Gang Starr brings the hip-hop to the fore by emphasizing the beats, but it's not yet enough to elevate this single.
