It took me years to really appreciate this album. The commercial tracks put aside, what is left is a very interesting House compilation with a constant, typical electronic retro vibe. The contribution of Dino & Terry on three tracks is amazing: especially the Overproof Mix of S.O.L. by Kon Kan, transformed into an excellent dubby, jazzy House composition. The Boomtang Boys were in their first years, but showed very fast what they were able to do. Their remixing skills are breathtaking: "N.R.G." hits the speakers with a psychotronic approach in the sound. "Love Trip" features the scatting of Chin Injeti (ex-Bass Is Base), more Deep House / Jazz oriented. Barry Harris, in the last mile of his Kon Kan project, deliver a strong remix for Monik Garo ("Tell Me Why") as well as a tribal variation under his alias "Kon Kan Side Project". While Nick Holder and his friends were busy in Toronto building a credible House scene in Canada, these guys were doing the same. I clearly remember the sound of that era, supported by clubs like the "Metropolis" in Montreal. From old school rustic impressions to hypnotic, catchy hard house tracks, you get a glimpse of that on this CD. Absolutely memorable. And, after all, we did all enjoyed "Fuk Dat" back then, did we?
