--- T-Rock Opens Lyrical Assault Aimed at Three Six Mafia on Classic 2002 Underground Album -- 5 Stars --- Special circumstances surrounded Atlanta based rapper T-Rock at this point in his career that would make this one of his more unique projects. The Myth of Reality was recorded in late summer to fall of 2002. T-Rock was aligned with Secret Service Entertainment at the time, but he would leave shortly after these recordings due to business disputes. This album was distributed by online Atlanta hip-hop company IAP under T-Rock's Rock Solid Music outfit. After seeing the independent success of T-Rock's first nationwide release, Conspiracy Theory (Released in early 2002 by Secret Service). Hypnotize Minds executives DJ Paul & Juicy J made plans to release what was supposed to be T-Rocks national debut album, Rock Solid 4:20. According to T-Rock, the two Three Six Mafia producers never had faith in Rock Solid 4:20 when T-Rock was a member of their record label. Despite having T-Rock complement their artists by appearing on several feature songs, the status of Rock's solo album release was on a constant delay by Paul & Juicy. The album politics coupled with getting screwed over money wise is what prompted T-Rock to depart from Hypnotize Minds. In an effort to spite T-Rock for leaving, Three Six Mafia finally released Rock Solid 4:20 in 2003, ensuring that T-Rock would not see any profits from his own music. The Myth of Reality marks the starting point where T-Rock would officially begin to unleash a verbal onslaught upon Three Six Mafia on a record. In addition to the Three Six beef element, this release also featured T-Rock on new production. T-Rock was officially with Secret Service (T-Love & Mr. Navigator) at the time of these recordings, but this album was essentially an in house production. Unlike Conspiracy Theory which was produced by Mr. Navigator, T-Rock produced seven tracks on Myth of Reality himself, while five other songs were made by Atlanta producer DJ Cree. T-Rock & DJ Cree would go on to collaborate on several projects in the following years and this CD is DJ Cree's very first appearance on a T-Rock album. DJ Cree did not disappoint, the ATL artist laced T-Rock with hard hitting production, most notably Track #9 - My Niggas, Track #5 - Bloodline, Track #6 That'll Work (T-Rock's first Three Six Diss Song), and Track #11 - Loaded Up.T-Rock once again delivered quality verses with his trademark flow. This was a time in his career where he was starting to prove to his fans that he didn't need Hypnotize Minds production, or even Secret Service, as his unbelievable flow & lyricism would and will always be enough to carry an album over the top. The lyrical depth & passion that T-Rock displayed on tracks such as Track #4 - The Myth Of Reality title track & Track #3 - On Site reminded me of a southern version of Tupac, T-rock is that good of a rapper. T-Rock got at Three Six Mafia on Track #6 That'll Work (Wanna Get Some 2) - Then as a bonus on Track #14 Outro, T-Rock sent shock waves throughout the Southern U.S. rap scene by surprising fans with two hidden verses over two Hypnotize Minds instrumentals while mercilessly attacking DJ Paul & Juicy J in between & after the tracks! The Outro on Myth of Reality would set the stage for future disses aimed at Three Six Mafia on other T-Rock releases, Da Clean Up Project & Defcon 1 - Lyrical Warfare.Original hard copies of the 2002 release of Myth of Reality hard extremely rare these days, IAP & Rock Solid Music issues a re-release in 2008. This album is a must have for all T-Rock fans.My Top 5 Songs on the Myth of Reality1. My Niggas2. The Myth of Reality3. Bloodline4. That'll Work5. Loaded Up
