This is a solid release from Jenna G. Her beautiful and powerful voice is a wonderful change from the typical vocalist you get in electronic music. My only criticism is that the lyrics aren't great and the music doesn't always fit her voice. I'd like to see some filters added on her voice, age it a bit, make it sound like Billie Holiday or something. She's great, but the clean sound doesn't fit the style. That being said, it's still beautiful work. "In Love" is my favorite of the bunch. Probably the best lyrics of the four, and some nice bits of her really belting it out. Definitely the best of her singing. Soft minimal drums you might expect from Calibre. The reserved horns compliment the sound very well. "Heavy" is a solid tune as well. Some of the lyrics are nice, some are lame, but it's all good. Drums are a little boring and there really isn't any melody or horns to compliment her. Instead there's just more of her singing, which can make it difficult to mix other tracks in and out. "Pleasure Ride" has better drums and a little jazz guitar work I quite like. Unfortunately the lyrics in this one aren't so good. I do like the synthetic string bass sound. This is more of a fun, jazzy tune. "Don't Bury Me" is much tamer than the others. Much better lyrics and great singing. Nice drums, good breakdown, decent bass, and ambient beeps serve some sort of melody. This is probably me second favorite next to "In Love". More of a head nodder than a floor filler though. It's a decent album worth picking up if you're into the chill, jazzy styles of drum&bass.

So this is Un-Cut's Jenna G surrounded by many of the hottest, best, most enjoyable and most dynamic d'n'b producers nowadays. Jenna G, with her always gorgeous voice, surrounded with the best of the best in a product that should be, must be, at least as good as the sum of its parts. Is it? Well, mostly. The first problem is that every track is spectacular. The first, "in love", begins dark and ends up being epic. Healing is very song-oriented, full of interesting sounds, "Ooo" is wonderful... and so on. Total Science, Kabuki, ShyFx and T-Power, everyone is at full power, so the problem seems to choose from those colaborations, and that's the only reason I can imagine to have some tracks so tragically cut down in a sudden (Healing, Woe) and the hurried way some others finish. So, the idea is wonderful (unlike the Un-Cut album, there is no need to justify drum'n bass with a soulful or jazzy background that makes it mainstream), but one feels that we have lost a lot in the process (at least one song is around but not in this album, the one produced by Logistics), and that maybe Jenna or Bingo Beats should have to release this album a bit more expensive, with two CDs, or one CD and a EP. Or fill the entire CD. Whatever, anyway. I get the feeling that there is brilliance all around, maybe a bit exhausting, but real brilliance, and this 68' thing never, ever, lets down. Recommended.
