"Latino Staccato" incl Sample by Matias Aguayo - El Sucu Tucu

OK, I'm going to start at the end and work backward---going up the down-slide, perhaps. :)That is to say, normally I would review the acid tracks first. But for whatever reason, "Latino Staccato" delights my brain like few other techno-only tracks. Seriously, it takes a lot for me to really like a techno-only track (i.e., with no acid); the percussion has to STOMP, the bassline needs to be groovy, and the synths need to be in the just the right spots. And even then, I don't usually flip out. But this pounding excursion is something else. The bassline that kicks in at around 0:50 is deliciously dirty, and carries the track for most of its duration. 5/5 for sure."Bitches" is much more normal for me, in that this non-acid techno track comes across as alright, but nothing too special (again, just for me; I'm sure plenty of people will love it). 3/5 to my ears and brain.Relatively new collaborators Wake 'N' Bake drop an energetic acid driller with their "Devil's Rejects." This tune is pacey and direct. It doesn't try to be flashy or do too much; it just continues to add layers of intensity as the track progresses, until around 5:30, when you will find me jumping out of my shoes. 4.5/5, genius tune. Lastly, we come to where I would normally begin---my favorite track on the record. MK303's tune has wild, deranged acid work, a blazing fast tempo, and an utter disregard for all things sane. Just like "Three Oh Three" and "Drugged Up," this is my kind of crazy. 5/5.
