Ten Days of Blue, John Beltran’s first album for Peacefrog, starts off with the sharp metallic techno of “Flex,” which gives way to the peaceful contemplation of “Collage of Dreams” -- and you know you’re in for a journey. One of Beltran’s most oft-compiled tracks, “Gutaris Breeze (6000 km to Amsterdam)” appears here, and you can hear why it’s so popular: it manages to be fragile and futuristic at the same time. A similar elegance can be heard on “Deluge” and “Decembers Tragedy.” Beltran mixes things up by occasionally throwing in a thumping beat, but in the end, what stands out are the more ethereal compositions.
