I rate this one full marks, kudos to DMB for finally doing a vinyl release right, although using URP as the pressing house could have resulted in another disaster. I can only surmise having Jack White as the face of RSD 2013 resulted in URP taking extra care of their RSD releases. I know someone that used to work there who says they'd see pallets of fresh vinyl laying out in the sun for hours before being moved on for shipping, no wonder so many records from URP are warped, but much worse a problem is how many records are noisy (poor vinyl compound?) and how many sides are pressed off-centre. I had to buy three copies of Big Whiskey before I got one with all four sides centred. I won't do the same with the new studio album because I know it just used the CD master, not worth it...despite the side Rooftop is on being horribly off centre. DMB need to start using Pallas or RTI to make sure they get better consistency with their pressings.Anyway, lucky for us the pressing house didn't ruin this release, the first live release from DMB to be pressed on vinyl. The new mastering by Scott Hull from Masterdisk is heads and shoulders better than the original CD which suffered from loudness wars mastering but not as badly as some of the later Live Trax releases. Seek Up measures DR14 on the TT meter, exceptional dynamics. This is why everyone who has heard it has had a positive reaction, it sounds fantastic.5/5 for Live Trax Vol 1, now we just need RLM to press enough to meet demand.
