I've been listening to this album almost as long as it's been out. While my musical taste has changed so much, and so many times, over the last 20 years, this incredible album has remained a constant. It's timeless and absolutely amazing.

I just recently listened to this album today after I have not listened to this album for many years and I can honestly say this is one hell of a fantastic dreamy blissed chill out album. I can remember when it came out and the music press hyped it right up to the album of the year and of course I bought it and when played it for the very first time. It was like a breath of fresh air, like music I had never before which is so unique. Maximum and not boring minimal repetitive music . I still feel the same about this album today. Real music made with the right blend of live instruments and electonics.

Mercy Street is easily one of the finest releases by Jay Alanski, AKA A Reminiscent Drive. He was capable to create excelent Ambient / Downtempo with (And that's a funny aspect) "No computer on This Record", according to the liner notes: and that's seems to be true because, to be honestly, the record is filled with cheap synths and slowed down sounds without too much sound quality. But that's no problem when the music is sublime and magnifique: every song in this record explores a different concept with greatness, often with a simple but emotive melody. The music and the concept also tries to be extremely positive about today's wonderings and troubles: "Life Is Beatiful" is a wonderful ballad about Life, the precious thing of all; "N.Y.C. Dharma" tries to explain that other spiritual world around us; "Serenade" is a song about love and peace ("You know that i'm saying; stop the violence, stop the hating, start loving")...One of the most spirituals records out there. Truly magnificent for those who think that the Music is a form of Art (Or it should be). It's hard to describe how important this album can be.

I can say something about "New Jerusalem". It's really well done. The first keyboard impressions are the most great of the whole album. Then, it vanishes away and the rest of the track it's far more conventional. But, as a whole, it's excelent. Perfect for a quiet afternoon.
