Love the music, pressing suffers from sibilance though, at least my copy does. Even adjusted myTT set up to eliminate that as a possibility.
  • Xor
Love the galaxial pharmaceutical version on this!! Can't decide whether I prefer this version or the original!

Really enjoyed this despite the problems. Firstly it's been squeezed onto 2 sides so the content is so quiet that the noise floor becomes more of an issue, it's surprisingly quiet considering how close to the noise floor it is. Whether they had to cut a lot of bass to fit it on is another issue. It does work well as 2 sides though, really draws you in.RSD pressings always seem to be a problem, too many manufacturers trying to get their product in the store for the 'big' day, quality control suffering in the factories. Choosing to go with a printed card liner is a bad sign that the label are cutting corners, it should have been a poly bag with separate liner notes, would have cost a few more pennies but saved some of the scratches.Still happy to own it. Just needs the volume right up to enjoy it at decent volume.

A really enjoyable record. After a good cleaning I found it to be a good pressing. I was expecting the Abbey Road mastering magic but that would be nitpicking.. the inclusion of a more bulked out sleeve (gatefold) would have been nice. But this shouldn't detract from the excellent music within.. goes well in my FSOL collection

Six of the tracks here are actually different to the versions on the 2002 Abbey Road version - Divinity, Osho and Meadows are longer and feature new sections, while Mello Hippo, Her Tongue is Like a Jellyfish and Galaxial are shorter and feature minor editing. Yes My Brother is missing and Go Tell it to the Trees Egghead is later in the running order. There will never be anything approaching a definitive version of this album!

£24.99 on the fsol website. Might be a better pressing too.
  • JoldGold
I guess it's the same pressing. They probably just kept a few copies for themselves to make more money.
  • Memuro
Not quite as bad a pressing but quite noisy...FFS you would expect for RSD they would make sure that it is a quality pressing!Does anyone know where it was pressed?
  • Dagdarad
Got a really bad press too, a big scratch on side one which sticks then pops & crackles on side two
  • Thordibandis
Personally, happy to get The Abbey RD cut on vinyl....if you are disappointed, wait for the CD pressing - seems pipelined - or try to get this: https://www.discogs.com/Amorphous-Androgynous-The-Isness/release/229146

My copy has zero background noise, so no issues there. True, it's a little on the quiet side. BUT you can always turn up the volume AND it means less up and downs to flip the record - something that delivers a much more gratifying listening experience. Thanks FSOL for putting this one out there!
  • Mysterious Wrench
If it would be so easy. There is no point in turning up the volume. If the input is low-level / surpressed sound, you won't get a better sound quality by purely turning up the volume. It just amplifies a bad sound. It's shit in, shit out. Unfortunately.
  • Tamesya
So much negativity about this release? But I will conceide that it should have been a double LP.
  • Axebourne
Crap. Only thing I must to say pressing is pile of crap. Very low sound level. Lots of clicks.
  • Tujar
Thanks for other buyers giving me the heads up on this release. I was going to buy it but will give it a swerve now. Might wait til the price drops, which will happen with this one. I hate it when they try to cram long albums onto 1 LP. They sound awful. I remember buying a Kings of Leon - Because of the Times LP years ago, and have since bought the double vinyl reissue cos the sound was so low and compressed. It's a shame because this one was in my top 3 wants this RSD, along with the Bowie live LP and Tim Burgess exclusive album. Defo a missed opportunity.
  • Kikora
Pretty bad (quiet) pressing. Also some crackling. In particular since FSOL music is all about clear, lush sounds. Don't know when they became so greedy, profit-oriented... Considering the price and amount of music, this should have been released on 2lp.

Track B1 is a new/different version of Divinity (the promo/mispressed version but with a different ending, with extra vocals & drums). It's ok but having listened to the brilliant earliest/promo version for 16 years it sounds distracting (maybe this was the intended original version but it feels a bit like George Lucas' original Star Wars tinkerings...)Poor pressing/manufacturing. Mine arrived scratched internally from paper dust/movement within the inner sleeve. Pressing is very quiet and fragile (180g seems irrelevant). This really should have been released as a 2xLP - side B is 33 mins long. Considering the elevated price/scarcity, and that the short track 'Yes my brother' is omitted, this is a disappointment. The 2002 Isness 2xLP was pressed excellently and sounds better (slightly warmer/bassier), this release seems like it was rushed and a missed opportunity.
