When the Ramones performed an international "farewell tour" in 1995, it was truly the end of an era. the Ramones had been recording for almost 20 years, and it was sad to know that the goofy, insanely infectious punk band was finally calling it quits...Last Amigo '95 was recorded at Club Citta in Kawasaki, Japan on October 29, 1995...The problem with this 32-song bootleg isn't the material -- in fact, the Ramones sound quite inspired on live versions of "Beat On the Brat," "Blitzkrieg Bop," "Pinhead" and other nutty gems. The problem is the poor sound quality. Some might think that bootlegs and poor sound quality go hand in hand, and in fact, that was often the case in the 1960s and 1970s. But in the CD era of the late 1980s and 1990s, professional soundboard recordings were the norm for bootlegs, many of which sounded like official live albums. So you can be certain that on the Ramones' 1995 farewell tour, some excellent soundboard recordings were made, although Last Amigo '95 isn't among them. Casual listeners should pass on this CD, but completists will find it of interest, especially in the absence of better packages.
