Reviews:
  • White gold
Wow - my copy sounds terrible. Tons of surface noise and very muddy compared to the digital. Perhaps my copy just needs a good cleaning...
  • Jonariara
Surprised to see some negative experiences as this album plays beautifully, very quiet and sounds even better then high quality MP3 and CD. It really plays fantastic on the copy I received.
  • Whitehammer
Hi! Is the album cover the same as the regular edition? I'm not really sure if the black fold with white letters is the cover and the flowers with squares is the lyric book cover or viceversa.
  • TheMoonix
Both sides do have surface noise, more on side A. Its definitely a pressing issue. It would normally drive me nuts, but this mastering (by Bob Ludwig! Look him up!) is excellent, and I can't hear the noise except in the deadwax and in the quiet lead-in on several tracks, but it totally disappears in seconds. Really great mastering, totally makes up for the imperfections of the pressing. This is actually a good case study for where doing something properly (mastering well for vinyl) compensates for some QC issues further down the line. Honestly, these kind of issues will almost ALWAYS drive me nuts with my setup (an old Technics TT with a microline stylus, I can hear every mistake) but this does not. As for the music itself, it is the best kind of pop music. Every track could fit very well on any teen movie from 1983-1997, if only it weren't produced in 2015. Every track is a dramatic pick-me-up, dynamic and inventive.

My copy of this coke bottle version skips in the first song at the very beginning and doesn't sound that good. I think that side B sounds a lot better than side A. I thought I was the only one with the skipping problem.
  • Scream_I LOVE YOU
Is your coke bottle more like a splatter? I thought it would be all the same color of light/transparent green.
  • Ishnllador
This version (coke bottle) sounds wonderful. I noticed less noise on this version.I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like the high end is a bit sharper though. Enjoyable though. Direct sequel to album #1. Will be interesting to see where they go for the next one. You can only make the same song so many times Chvrches!

US pressings seem to have a bad run-in on side A. No matter where I drop the needle it jumps a few seconds into the first track. I ended up with the coke bottle and white US pressings and both have the issue. My turntable is properly set up; I don't have this issue with other vinyl. Anybody else notice this?
  • Arashitilar
My copy doesn't do this, in fact it plays quite well, not many skips or jumps, as many people seem to notice with their copies.
  • Sharpbrew
upon the first play, yes, side A skipped a second or 2. :/
  • Thetahuginn
Absolutely! I have the same issue with the A side only.
  • Xor
I used to have bones of what you believe US pressing but i didn't quite like how sharp and compressed it sounded that i decided to opt for either the EU or UK edition afterwards. as a replacement copy
  • Tisicai
I have the Coke bottle clear version and don't have this issue. Plays great.
