Anyone care to comment on the pressing and mastering quality of this release? I've seen it in a local shop and there was a note on the back mentioning Rhino was involved, so I'm curious. I don't really trust "Wax Maniax" at all.

Please add that info to the listing if you can so others know. I'll avoid anything this label does in the future myself.

Yep I think that's it, very sloppily written Dc Plush. Thanks for all this info, going to be more careful and do my research beforehand.

Hmm, doesn't ring a bell. Is it maybe this guy? https://www.discogs.com/artist/408405-David-CheppaHis sig is often sloppy and hard to make out, but maybe it is him. He does a lot of work on records that end up being pressed at Rainbo by independent labels and especially Scorpio stuff.

Wow thanks for that info, much appreciated. And it looks like I did miss the name, pretty hard to read but this is what I can make out "De plun?"

Thank you. The S-XXXXX matrix means that it was pressed at Rainbo, one of the worst pressing plants in the U.S. That plant occasionally gets things right but more often gets them wrong. Surface noise, off-center, non-fill, and other pressing defects are common. I don't see a sig for who cut the lacquer, so unless there is one you didn't list it was probably done by a no-name in-house guy at Rainbo. It looks like Wax Maniax uses Mammoth for digital mastering on some releases, maybe they prepped the digital files before sending them to Rainbo. Mammoth doesn't list a tape machine or even a lathe for cutting lacquers from digital, so I doubt they had anything to do with the lacquers. Just knowing this info smacks of something done as a cheap cash-in, not with quality in mind.

Do you mind posting the matrix info? Curious who mastered it and where it was pressed. I'll probably have to skip this one.

Sound is not that great, the overall volume seems sort of lower than normal but not too bad. Also it says mastered for vinyl 2017 on the back and doesn't seem like much was done. As far as the actual vinyl and pressing quality it's pretty bad. I felt I had to literally break in the vinyl. I think they left some microscopic bits in the grooves and it skipped right when I put it on the first time. After trying a few more times it finally played as normal but had some other popping throughout. I would say if you can get this really cheap go for it and clean it before playing otherwise invest in the original.
