In a personal list as something way beyond thrash metal classic.Slayer, Metallica and Exodus style is not present here magically, and that makes "we have arrived" an unique thing. "We have arrived" is an exception to the thrash metal from 85 to 87 trend and a beginning of a new premise to construct music, notice how the tempos are not exacerbated as with Slayer, Exodus or Metallica, the drums are not in frenzy maniac beat, the guitars don't preserve the exhilaration but varies with a primitive almost tribal kind of rhythm that moves the listener viscerally and relentlessly, there's a twist that we cannot paragon with anything alike at the epoch. The lyrics in "we have arrived" are related with horror, slasher movies, the childish Metalhead way of rocking life and dark motives related with cold war fears thus the distance taken becomes more prominent. The only bridge available would be Death, and as result we can side both bands as purveyors of early thrash-death manifold. Other bands will later drink from this cup as they continue to develop and we will know them as classics as well. Merciless death for example would be remade in the subsequent "Darkness descends" album with a decidedly more vibrant pace and demark the origins for death metal, both in thematic and musical construct. But it's clear that in this debut every single track is so well articulated for a headbanging ritual charge from start to finish. There's a typical 80s feeling in here, dark and ominous, dangerous and a tad morbid while at the same time vigorous and juvenile. This album, even though was never conditioned to be as elaborated or epic as "darkness descends" it is way more thrash in dynamic, more simple in melodic structure yet dystinctively dark amidst its virulence from its rhythm. I remember enjoying this to no avail back in the day in every single context I could. And while it's clear that "Darkness descends surpass both in production and elaboration to this brute diamond, it doesn't change the fact it is the forging force where not just a band but a genre and an optic for metal music will later emerge. One of the cradles nest for the death metal offspring without a doubt.
