Old school analog sweeps build up to a massive, maximal tongue-in-cheek perturbing take off that obliterates the competition and sends masses to kingdom come. Underpinned by heavily funk induced percussion and thunder struck synth stabs, Reverse Processed brings back the good old vibe of shimmering techno when you could lose it in a smoke filled room under the stroboscope without spilling someone's 20 euro umbrella cocktail. Winged, celestial and - simply put - downright joyous, with his contribution to this release, Ritzi Lee successfully captures the essence of techno music while allowing it to propel forward and give impetus to the entire genre which at times seems so hopefully stuck in gracing old classics with remixed re-released, re-done, re-dubbed and re-pressed versions, or keeping "dance floor in check" at a steady 120bpm flow. This one just breaks loose and slaps you right across both cheeks - simultaneously!Ben Sims is up to bat with an almost nine minute journey which deploys a staccato bass line, razor sharp hats and an (I reckon) intentionally trod upon drum pattern, all of which give plenty space to the absolutely epic riff to launch the track sky high. Ben Sims tones down his (at times) overly formulaic tribal approach to techno, and focuses more on fusing an overwhelming loop with moderate percussion patterns to atmospheric effect. Unlike the vast majority of his past output, he avoids the form of auditory communication through incorporating vocal tones in a structured and continuous manner, as Bite This is completely devoid of samples or trademark Sims vocal snippets. Epic, lengthy, journeyesque and funky as James Brown's sneakers, this one will please long time fans as well as newbies. Take heed!Paul Mac fuses soul, through a deranged and dominant male vocal, and superb electronics, by applying an outer worldly percussion arrangement which has made me replay this track three times in a row after the first listen. With shuffled, clapping hi-hats, dense drum programming and an evocative vocal going "I need somebody!", this one will fight its way many a sets, although personally I prefer the other two cuts more.Well, to put an end to this discussion, at the moment, this is the release you should be after right now if you are on the lookout for hot tunes to drop. Despite the fact that nothing on here has a patch on Ritzi Lee's Reverse Processed, this is still a three tracker that is bound to leave a trace and get massive play from anyone who knows the rules of the game. Either that, or the rules have been irreversibly sent down the toilet.
