This is an odd one, a re-issue of The Modern Dance with the correct labels, but the LP is Wire's 154. The matrix numbers indicate that the Wire repress is the 2006 4 Men With Beards one: 154
Everything else about this release is identical to the 2007 Blank repress including the small ring impression on the labels: The Modern Dance

I agree with Jon. Fantastic pressing. Beautiful bass and very dynamic. Unlike the 2017 Dub Housing which seems to have lost the warm bass in favour of high treble

As far as I'm concerned, this is the definitive pressing. Dave said there were a ton of problems with the original sessions that they fixed for this release. It sounds great! Clear, dynamic, quiet. What specifically they went back in to fix I am not so sure of. It sounds faithful to my ears. It's not like they Iggy-d it up. Get this one!

This is one of the best remasters of this cult classic, I strongly recommend it. Music On Vinyl has few disappointing remasters but this one is fine

I don't read a thing here about the different mix on the Blank label compared to the Rough Trade issue.I own both of them,I read about this difference some time.The Blank mix seems to have less stereo left right effects.Whatever either way,one of my favourite records ever !

Definitely not released in 2004, but in 2000. I bought this one (get54) that year together with "Dub housing" (get058), also released in 2000.

Don't buy this God awful joke of a pressing. They did a hilariously bad job cutting this record. The disc is too big and the center hole is too small and it's seriously D-tier bootleg quality. If you buy this after reading this review, you deserve the piece of shit Italian rip-off.

Certainly a re-release, but I'm not sure if it's bootleg. My copy says "Manufactured by Phonogram, Inc., A Polygram Company. Distributed by Phonodisc. Inc." The label is Blank Records. Blank Records was a label created specifically for release this Pere Ubu album.

The Suicide Commandos album, "Make A Record" was released the same day as "The Modern Dance" on Blank Records--another mid-west classic and progenitor of the Minneapolis punkrock scene.

"Cliff Burnstein, Mid-Western A&R man for Mercury/Phonogram, read about the band (Pere Ubu) in a fanzine and was intrigued enough to track down their singles then the band itself. As a result, he formed a Phonogram subsidiary called Blank Records - which he envisaged as an American equivalent to England's Stiff Records - and signed Ubu as the first band on the new label."
