Luke Slater delivers a peak hour prime time techno mega-bomb that makes one feel like they're listening to the work of an eighteen year old testosterone loaded rookie, and not a seasoned veteran who' proved his worth ages ago. Stacking up drum loop after drum loop, synth pattern after synth pattern, it keeps on reaching unreachable heights only to descend back and do it all again. I am yet to witness this getting played in real time, but I have no doubts whatsoever it absolutely obliterates dance podiums.Orphx continue in the footsteps of their deeply impressive releases on Sonic Groove. It's an effort that crosses styles and bridges genres like few other around at the moment. It starts out quite minimal, building up to a broken beat industrial affair, breaking down somewhere down the middle, and then re-emerging like a full on techno assault with heavy metallic drops and ostentatious off-kilter drum patterns. Every release they put out is more 'out there' than the last one, which is not something a lot of projects who have been around for two decades can brag with.I would very much like to provide a sensible opinion of the Material Object remix, but the honest truth is that I have been so busy playing the hell out of the aforementioned remixes, this one (undeservedly) got lost in the shuffle. To put your mind at ease though, worry not, there isn't a feeble millisecond on this release. Dirt proof quality through and through, for both the impatient DJs to headphone sporting living room couch potatoes.
