The single 'The plague' has amended song writing credits deleting Wright, Ellis and Hunt by black marker pen on the label. Ellis and Hunt left the band in 1983 but Wright did not leave until 1987. Anyone know why their names were deleted ?

Record Heaven Music has come to mean quality in my mind. A company dedicated to thoroughness whatever they take on. The same holds truth for this release where they release a double album, one CD with the original mix and one CD with the later remaster from 1989.For those without reference to the original, this is probably not an essential buy and you're pretty much just as well off buying one of the other single releases. The reason is that the first release is a bit thinner in its sound than the remaster. For me however who have owned the record since day one of its release this was a welcome addition to my collection. Finally I was once again able to listen to the original vinyl mix as it was released back in 1983. My original vinyl has long since passed on to vinyl heaven and is only present in my collection for reference, but having this in my collection I feel I still got the vinyl anyway. It must be noted though that I have later found a 24-Bit 96KHz true vinyl rip of the record that indeed sounds even better than the original mix found here, but that just confirms my experience... Usually, a 24/96 or better vinyl rip sounds better than the CD release of the same mix given that we're talking an analog master in the first place. While I can't offer any proof or technical details, it's just the way it sounds to my ears if the rip is done right without any or very little post-processing.

To evaluate this album from a fan-standpoint would mean not offering the album half a chance. If there ever was a time to ask an album to be viewed totally on its own, this is it!If I may say so, this album has nothing to do with Demon as a whole, and even though I do enjoy the two first and a few of the albums to follow it, this is something "quite on the other side" and saw Demon moving into the more pop/rock oriented ladscape of progressive music. Being so, fans of the two first all shouted WTF, are you out of your minds. The answer is probably, due to the above, a loud and clear yes! It took me quite some time to accept this as a "proper" Demon release, but once I did, this album has grown (in retrospect) to be the most important, even if stand-alone, of their releases.I'll restrain myself from doing a rundown of each track as I think my bias will be only too obvious, but I will say this: I don't care what you have heard from Demon before, even if you don't like Demon as a whole, if you like music a little on the progressive side, you got to hear this, and please, don't think Demon when you listen even if you have heard the group before... You won't regret it!A true stand alone release in every respect of the two words "stand alone".
