Nada Surf - The Proximity Effect flac mp3 download

This is the single worst sounding pressing that I own. It sounds like someone burned 128 kbps MP3s of this album to a CD-R, left in their car in the sun for a few months, ripped that CD-R and then sent those files to the pressing plant. I feel like it takes serious effort to make a pressing this poor. Tons of surface noise, no dynamic range whatsoever. I can't believe this is considered an official release.

This was NOT released in 2000, nor is it a first pressing. The band fought Elektra to get the rights back for this album, it was pressed for the first time on vinyl in the Barsuk boxed set, then subsequently by itself on the Barsuk label under license from the band (Mardev). These Mardev pressings are actually re-rereleases undeserving of premium prices.

Well i always loved the songs this group made, some sounding almost like grunge, when Kurt Kobain was in his badest mood, and some like soft ballads sending you back in the 60's!! This album is the perfect combination of both qualities we can appreciate from this formation: in one word, it rocks! In the same song you're tripping from some kind of hard tune with overdriven guitars and suddenly, following the feelings of the singer, you dive in a soft cushion of dreamy and floaty melodies. My fave tune is definitely "Bacardi" simply perfect album!
