Just picked up the 180g reissue. Sounds fantastic, all instrumentation really shines. Classic album.
  • Coron
So what is different from this respect the classics version compared to the 2015 version??
  • Kalrajas
This is a great album but my sealed copy was incredibly warped. It's like watching waves in the ocean. Amazingly it plays fine.
  • Bort
How did you manage to play a sealed record? No longer your sealed copy, I'm assuming.
  • OwerSpeed
same with my Mothership Connection LP and that's only record I have like that funnily enough haha

A friend of mine showed me this record. The cover just made me laugh at first but the music blew me away. The story of this Parliament record is that the band took them self as being an Alien lifeform from outer space, and the mission was bringing p-funk music to planet earth. Nevertheless this record is the ultimate Parliament record for me. It is some seriously crazy stuff in there but incredible musicians are bringing the mothership ahead with Fred Wesley and Maceo Parker from James Browns band among some. Acid drugs were a big part in forging this music, and the result was P-funk at is best, yet humorous and fun. The highlight of the whole thing is "Dr.Funkenstein", just listen to the lyrics.. Classic!!

Huhhh? pop music in the 70's was damn good. MILES AHEAD of what's on the radio these days. I like Clinton, but let's face it, it's very much an acquired taste. I would rather listen to Shalamar, Midnight Star, or D-train personally.

CLONES OF DR. FUNKENTSTEIN also proves that Parliament wasn't just a one-off project, an off-season Funkadelic, so to speak. But, after the minds blown from MOTHERSHIP CONNECTION the band returned with the equally amazing sophomore effort, DR. FUNKENSTEIN and it works just perfectly. It's the unique stuff like this that made the 70s a very interesting time, musically. Maybe not as much for the "average" joe public who listened to top 40 AM stations in the 70s and are not much different today - listening to awful, nauseating music made the worse from the heavy-rotation overplay on all the radio stations.
