Video about Peter Gabriel - Us

Reviews:
  • Gaua
I have known that a lot of records manufactured in 2015, the 45 rpm are defective factory, avoid buying that print run.I bought the reissue 2016 and I have not had problems; They sound incrible. Only Peter Gabriel Security brings the label of the decentered side 2, but not its reproduction
  • Nicearad
Do you know what the defect was? Mine sounds mostly excellent, the instruments are rendered perfectly, but Peter's vocals distort a bit (sibilance) on most tracks. I don't know which press run mine was.
  • Vushura
Obviously this is a 5 star album for Peter Gabriel. This 45rpm version is NEAR perfect. The lows are deep, much better than the CD version. Unfortunately there is some pitting in the more quiet areas of the record. Right off the bat, the ending of ‘Come talk to me’ cuts in and out during the fade out. Pretty annoying when playing loud. Oh well, still an excellent sounding LP.
  • Malojurus
The 45RPM cut (PGLPR7X) you are referring to is a different version to this one here (PGLPR7).Check out https://www.discogs.com/Peter-Gabriel-Us/release/8744593
  • Dainris
it amazes me how an artist can produce pure musical shit like come talk to me then the next track is a masterpiece like love to be loved , why waste your time on wank like come talk to me , we are human as to be the answer , good album apart from that cunt track one
  • Umdwyn
Has anyone got this version? https://www.discogs.com/Peter-Gabriel-Us/release/9471068I've heard great things about the triple 45rpm half speed mastered version but just wondering if anyones tried the more recently released double 33rpm half speed mastered version.
  • Ishnsius
Can't compare this to the 45rpm Deluxe Ltd. Ed. 1/2speed remaster, but this is great. High quality as PG and his fans like it. Levin's bass presence is up in the mix revealing the nuances of his artistry more than I've heard on these songs before.
  • Gavinranara
I just got around to listening to my copy. I can't compare it to the 45 RPM copies but I can say it's a huge improvement over the CD version, which I've always thought was "muddy" sounding in the bass which affected the entire recording. The vinyl is clearer (bearing in mind this is just my opinion) the vinyl reveals parts of the music which I hadn't heard before. I wanted to get the 45 RPM's but for the prices I was seeing I could get both this and UP for the price of one of the 45's.
  • Rasmus
I think that I have this version but Matrix code is :786455 2 @ 1 :4 :5
  • IWantYou
Additionally, this recording has very little dynamic range compression (0.6 as measured by DRC-Meter).

These limited edition, numbered, 45 rpm half-speed master editions are awesome. They are whisper quiet and have a very strong signal (+1.5 dB on my scale). They also come with a free digital download and you can select 24-bit, 48 kHz hi-resolution versions. In addition the LPs come in beautiful gatefold jackets (even if the original album was not gatefold). They are produced directly by Peter Gabriel’s company and so they are done right. These albums are my most prized and loved possessions.I am a huge Peter Gabriel fan and had to get them all. Us is one of my less favorite Peter Gabriel albums; but I would rather listen to my least favorite Peter Gabriel music than most anything else. “Blood of Eden” is my favorite track and, of course, this album contains the hit, “Steam”. As with all the others the production and mastering on this version is precisely perfect—a joy to listen to.
  • Kerdana
It took me a while to get a copy that was not warped. In the end had to combine two copies and make a selection. Sound quality is indeed fabulous but selling warped records as an audiophile release is a bit of a bummer

Both So and Us have warped lp's, not going to return them just too much hassle. Also my copy of Us, LP 1 is missing label for Side 2, it has two Side 1 labels??????The quality of mastering is exceptional and the warp is not affecting the quality of sound

Had to return my copy of this. All three lp's were warped to varying degrees.Disappointing.

I ordered So, US and UP from Real World. So and US were also severely warped. Up was better but still some mild warping and a scratch on side E (can happen). I told them about it and they said there were more complaints. They checked their stock and told me all the copies of US had warping. They offered a refund for US and would check the records for So and UP to send out replacements that were better/acceptable. Very good customer support I have to say!The replacement So still has some warping but is much better than the 1st copy I received. UP looks ok, but haven't played it yet.Since I got a refund for US I ordered it again from another store. Also warped. It is playable so I decided to keep it. Fortunately I bought a Michell Record Clamp. This can flatten out warped/dished record quite a bit.

Have to say, the quality of these reissues is simply fabulous. The sound is breathtaking. Begs the question, if this level of sound can be achieved, why isn't every vinyl release like this? Are we buying substandard most of the time?!

Some records aren't mastered very well in the first place, so putting it on vinyl isn't going to help. Garbage in, garbage out as it were. Some records get a vinyl-specific master, a mastering job specifically for the format that works wonders. Quality of the vinyl used, cleanliness of the press, skill of the lacquer cutters... so many things go into how the final product sounds. If a very high level of skill and care goes into the edition, then they sound this good. Usually, this translates into increased cost to the consumer of course, so there is always a bit of a trade off.

I agree! Anyone who says 'records sound like garbage', just sit them down and let them listen to this album. Impressive sound to say the least!

I don't think there is a difference between this release and this release: http://www.discogs.com/Peter-Gabriel-Us/release/5687301

I can see some differences. This one has code 213 143 on Labels, whereas release 5687301 doesn't (though it has it on back cover and sticker). Also, the inner sleeves of 5687301 have an "entrance" on front sides, absent on this one (on the other hand this has code 213 143 also on inner sleeves). I've seen some copies just like this release, some with hype sticker, but such sticker is slightly different than the one shown on release 5687301. It is also black, same text, but its design is slightly different. Anyone could explain this? Slightly different inner sleeves, an additional code on labels (this release), different hype stickers. Were the two UK releases in question simultaneous? If not, which one could possibly be the first?
