I hope you are lucky enough to own this album! Worth is one of the best albums of the 90's and in synthpop's history. I am no Anything Box historian, but I've been a fan since their first album Peace, so I am not scared to throw in my two cents either :) If Worth had seen a proper release, there's no telling where Anything Box would be today. Where Peace was great but had a few songs that were honestly mediocre, the follow-up Worth nailed it. Every song is incredible. Every song is special. I can't imagine life without this album. Apparently, after the explosive success of Peace and the single Living in Oblivion, there was a dispute about the release of their follow-up. Worth, which was recorded in Germany and produced by legendary Gareth Jones, ended up being ixnayed by Epic who must have owned the rights to it. Because the band was not allowed to make money off the recording, they distributed it on cassettes as well as promotional CD, which they made available through their fan club. At the time, I did not take the time or deem it worth the effort to write their fan club, but I actually got this disc through a trade. I was incredibly blown away, and even now don't hesitate to bliss out to this album. Wedding Day and Everybody Has A Wish are splendid. A cover of The Beatles' All You Need Is Love will make you smile. My favorite track is Come Away, truly divine. (That was probably the best trade I've ever made!) With this album sacked, Anything Box charged on writing all new songs for the album Hope, which I would say is equally as good as Worth. Worth did eventually see a release on the Orangewerks label (with 2 untitled bonus tracks), making it more available to many people, though even it can be difficult to find also. If you happen to find this album "in the field," this first, promotional release clearly states on the back: "This is a limited promotional release. Not for sale." And seek it out you should!

this review itself by glazball, above, is an example of what a discogs review should be: a subjective yet critical account of a body of music you've experienced as author, and want to share with others. This review is savvy and friendly throughout; such well written and helpful and affable words and messages can become the timbre of Discogs and this review merits mention on its own merits alone. Hats off to you
