Another cool lost gem from Garden of Delights. The roots of Morpheus were undocumented until this CD release. Originating circa Spring 1971 from the town of Warburg (about 70 miles east of Dortmund) Opossum existed until early 1975, transforming into Morpheus.Documenting a studio rehearsal session from 1974, it sounds more 1969, but is still fresh and vibrant fusion, of the type that I love! A very clean, but live studio quality, gives the music great presence. Four of the five tracks are penned by band leader Gerold Adler. The opening Eddie Marshall number The Sun And Moon Have Come Together is given a distinct Krauty feel, as a relaxed Zappa/Mothers cum Xhol jazzy mood, with really nice electric-sax work. Vaguely Colosseum in a free-floaty mode, I could compare Opossum to Annexus Quam, Munju and Embryo, but I won't. Oops!
